Jancy Sackett (Baker)

Jancy Sackett (Baker)

Janet 'Jancy' Susan Sackett Baker went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 5, 2010, surrounded by family and loved ones. She fought her cancer bravely and with grace. Her body grew weak, but her spirit remained strong and was an encouragement to those she left behind. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her and those whose lives were touched by her testimony. She was born in Waltham, Massachusetts on December 18, 1949 to Roger W. and Alice E. Sackett. She graduated from MacArthur High School in San Antonio, Texas where she played flute in the band. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in education. Jancy was introduced to her husband, Steve, by her brother, Jeff, when the two were stationed together in California. They were married August 4, 1973 and were stationed in Thailand. They also lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado and North Little Rock, Arkansas. Jancy and her family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1990. She taught third grade at Flour Bluff Elementary until 2004. She enjoyed working with children, both as a teacher and while helping with the Kidz Island youth program at Padre Island Baptist Church. She volunteered with many organizations and enjoyed the fellowship of her Small Group at Padre Island Baptist Church, Community Bible Study, the Emmaus Community and CC Live. She enjoyed traveling to Europe and Hawaii and spending time with her many friends, bunko buddies and shopping companions. Jancy took great joy in spending time with her three grandchildren and was a soul mate and best friend to her husband, Steve. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She demonstrated her love through her many acts of service to her family and friends and was kind to everyone she met. She was a blessing to us and we look forward to being reunited with her. She is survived by her husband of thirty-seven years, Steve Baker, who enjoyed a wonderful life with Jancy; her son, Michael (Brandi) Baker; her daughter, Emily (Michael) Gray, all of Corpus Christi, Texas; her parents, Roger and Alice Sackett of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, Josh (Neva) Sackett of Floresville, Texas and Jeff (Jill) Sackett of Uttoxeter, England, United Kingdom; and three grandchildren, Lindie, Michael, and Tyler of Corpus Christi, Texas. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/sanantonio/obituary.aspx?pid=145849167#sthash.CDXtt60s.dpuf
