From her daughter, Kelly Wofford:

Yesterday, 2/21/23, my mother lost her battle with cancer. 💔🌈🙏

Going through old memories, and seeing the shining light she was, especially during her singing years and her Navy career, fills my heart with such warmth. For anyone who knew my mother knows what a joy she brought to peoples lives, and her smile and big burly laugh would make the saddest person happy.

Her life was filled with ups and downs, like us all, and hers maybe more than others. We will remember the good times, the good memories, and know that she can start singing again (she was a GREAT singer!) free from pain and the struggles that this life had in store for her. Knowing those challenges she continued to face, along with her cancer, makes her passing a blessing that she can now finally dance and sing with the angels, with a healthy soul and spirit guiding her.

Fly free, Mom. We love you 🌈

Michael Burk and David Bodenman represented Mac HS at the Memorial Service for Sarah.  It was a lovely service.

Sarah was the sweetest, with a lovely sense of humor and an angelic singing voice. I remember her as very kind and empathetic.

Condolences to Sarah's children and grandchildren. Sorry to send this so late.I just read this (10-15-23) and am so sorry you lost her. I don't check this website that often.  I was in the Acappella Choir at Mac, and we all remember what a great voice Sarah had. When we were sophomores, the drama and music departments put on "Finian's Rainbow."  Scott Porter (a senior) had the male lead, Sarah had the female lead, and Bruce McGill (our class) played the leprechaun. It was a big hit and highly thought of throughout the whole school.

I trust she has passed through the Pearly Gates to be with our Heavenly Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Again, so sorry you lost her.  -- Kathy Hamby Clark

I am just learning of this sad news, and even though my sentiments come woefully late, they are profound nonetheless. Sarah and Raney and I spent many wonderful times together at Kinsolving Dorm at UT during our years there, and they will forever remain the fondest of memories of that very special time in our lives. I was fortunate to know her and her family well throughoout high school and college, but lost touch as I began moving all over the place in subsequent years, a fact I now of course regret.  I had hoped to see her at our 50th, and was disappointed at her absence. I truly loved Sarah, and my heart is heavy at her passing.  She will live and sing in my heart and soul for the rest of my life.  May God bless her and her family as much as He blessed us with her presence in our lives.  May she rest in eternal peace in His presence.
