Albert L. Hook Jr.
MARCH 30, 1950 – SEPTEMBER 18, 2024
Albert L. Hook Jr. was born in Columbia, SC on March 30, 1950 to parents Albert Hook and Ida Smith. He passed on September 22, 2024 in San Antonio, TX.
He is preceded in death by his father Albert Hook and wife Ursula; mother Ida Smith and husband Ronnie; brother Gene Hamer and wife Debbie; and his niece Gabby Wintersole.
Al is survived by his wife Sherry Wintersole Hook; son Bradley Hook; grandson Dylan Brown-Hook; brother Billy Hook and wife Linda; brothers-in-law Richard Wintersole, Mark Wintersole and wife Gaye; nephews Keven Hamer and wife Lydia, Colin Wintersole, Thomas Hook and wife Madeline; as well as his nieces Lysa Hamer, and Bobbie O'Connor and her husband Patrick.
Al Hook Jr. graduated from MacArthur high school in 1968, and St. Mary's University in 1972. Al enjoyed the company of others, including his fellow employees at his last place of employment Enterprise Rent-a-Car. He also possessed a lifelong friendship with his classmates and members of his high school football team the MacArthur Brahmas, to whom Al's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks for their continued support.
Al was an enthusiast for all sports (barring tennis) and left a lasting legacy upon his local football scene. He was a tireless volunteer for the YMCA football program and McAllister Park Little League. Over time he became a reluctant dog lover to please his wife Sherry, and leaves behind Snoopy, Archie, and Jo-Jo. Similar to many of the characters of the western movies Al enjoyed, he was a sturdy and dependable man, and beneath a rough exterior kind and caring. He was a loving and loved husband and father, and will be missed greatly by those who have felt his presence in their lives. https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/san-antonio-tx/albert-hook-11998429

I remember being intimidated by Al in school. I came to know him quite well over the last 30 orso years. He was quite introspective and had a really good heart. I will miss him dearly.
