In Memory

Marilyn Tucker

Marilyn Louise Tucker, born October 23, 1949 in Mesa, Arizona passed away on September 14, 2022 at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital and Medical Center after fighting a tenacious battle with cancer.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Willis E. Tucker and Josephine Marie Tucker and her brother Joe Edward Tucker.  She is survived by her brother Willis Eugene Tucker (Staley Rose) and her nephew Kristopher Scott Tucker (Jennifer) and great nephews Kaleb and Brogan and great niece Mila, and numerous cousins.

A very special thanks to Norma, Teddy and Fred for the love and concern they revealed to Marilyn in the past years as she fought the brave fight.  They brought her joy, happiness and comfort and her family is eternally grateful.

Marilyn loved to crochet, embroidery and quilt.  Her expertise in these areas was demonstrated by her ability to sell her beautiful creations. She loved to read and to fish and spent many hours with Teddy on the lake enjoying the peace and serenity of early morning fishing expeditions.  Marilyn cherished the memories and friends of her high school years and worked with others to bring the two together.

An extremely organized individual with an eye to detail, she helped plan and execute reunions where these memories could be shared.  For many years she made crafts (yard art and wind chimes) and sold them at the Hummingbird Festival in Rockport, Texas.  She loved house plants and with that green thumb she possessed, Marilyn nurtured African violets and most recently succulent plants. In prior years Marilyn had gardens and loved to show others the huge tomatoes she was able to grow.

Our sweet Marilyn will be missed.  Her passing has left a void in the hearts and minds of the people she loved and who loved her.  Our loss is Heaven’s gain and as she walks those hallowed halls, we know God is smiling upon her and she is at peace.

Because there will not be a memorial service, please share your thoughts and memories of Marilyn in the guestbook so that others might see Marilyn as you have seen her.

Dear Marilyn,

You will certainly be missed.  You were one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I know.  You always remembered my birthday and wished me a speedy recovery of my health issues even when your own health was failing.  The last time we spoke, we made a vow to meet for lunch at The Barn Door once your own health allowed it.  I'm afraid our meeting will have to be postponed for awhile now.  God bless you!!

Along with David Ylitalo, Marilyn has been a stalwart keeper of the flame of the Class of '68.  While I am sad that she has left the body, I am grateful to have known and worked with such a thoughtful and caring person.  We all owe Marilyn a debt of gratitude for her years of devotion to promoting and sustaining the cohesion and memories of the Class of '68.

So sad to lose Marilyn to cancer.  She was such a trooper whose hard work over many years brought joy and renewed relationships among our Brahma alumni.  The long hours she spent organizing the alumni connections and working with committee to host the Reunions are now "Lore" among the alumni.  We all can take a lesson from her caring, love and performance.  Many thanks to Norma and others who assisted Marilyn on this last journey with us, Marilyn will now be welcomed and blessed by Christ and the Angels.....   David

As we move thru our seventies friendships take on deeper meanings and importance. Marilyn has been a reunion source of energy, organization and cheerfulness doing the detail work for the class, for over forty years.

I remember her excitement when she would tell us she added a new classmate to the class register. A moment of shared joy with a classmate and friend. We miss you Marilyn.     David
